I Love You

Language is very dynamic and is constantly changing. We say the words without even thinking about its meaning, it is as basic as breathing. Computers have a different understanding of words and they don’t understand that a certain expression or words may have dual meaning. It’s up to us to give meaning to it. But what happens when we stop understanding the means to give meaning?

The fast-paced information we live in has a continuous impact in language and in the ways we communicate. And sometimes the line separating our language from computer understandings starts vanishing due to the repetitiveness inherent to the fast-paced information we are surrounding ourselves with. In this work I’ve explored this loss of meaning with voice and also explored other ways to represent the ‘I love you’ idea. Visually we can see the waves of sound of my voice saying ‘I love you’, and then the sound is matching the speed and the going back and forward seen in the video. This work emphasises this idea of meaningless love and explores how a word have a dual meaning. Reproducing the expression over and over we can understand that the words no longer belong to the realm of being words, they lost its aura and now this expression belongs to the realm of sound, noise, perhaps music. They lost their identity as words in the moment where its meaning vanished.
