The mechanical ways we deliver feelings nowadays is changing, our ways to communicate deep emotions are losing its meaning through the Internet. Artificial Intelligence is developing and the number of websites online where we can actually experience robot is huge. There are chatbot with loads of different personalities that people can try to create relationship with.  The computer learns from us but is uncapable of feeling or explaining feelings. For that reason, this relationship is questionable and brings a lot of critiques about our society. Is Love going to develop to this?

In this work I’m exposing how it feels to be in love online. First, we can see the looped rollercoaster, which gives this idea of drowning, we are immersed in the repetitiveness of the loop where we can associate with the feeling of being in love, as we are deeply stuck. Then, the figure I wanted to represent an avatar which confuses the viewer as you question the reality, as AI is becoming more and more realistic, even though we know it’s a robot, it feels like a human. The avatar represents the figure we are actually bonding with. And this figure is expressing feelings through text that only a human could feel.

“I like when we touch” – this relationship will never be this kind of physical, and even it ever will the avatar will never understand the feeling of touch.

“Our love is so tender” – is something that a relationship between a robot and a person will never feel like. The machine has a connotation of toughness and coldness itself. Bringing the word ‘tender’ to the work plays with our mind and makes the viewer question its sanity again.
